La Roche Stoneware, The Ardennes throughout the time, is an invitation to enter the multimedia world of La Roche Stoneware.
Visitors are immediately plunged into the history of our region, with stoneware as the guiding thread. As soon as you cross the threshold, wearing the audio commentary headphones to guide you in your own language (French, Dutch, English, German), you will discover the origins of stoneware, from the clay quarry to the potter's workshop, where a holographic projection and a short documentary film will reveal the craftsman's techniques...
Once you have soaked in the atmosphere of the kiln in the following scene, you enter the great hall of the château, where the lords and monks await you. The apothecary also used stoneware, and it was found too in the kitchens of the Ardennes, the apiary, the dairy and the baker's shop.
The tour continues from scene to scene, from craftsman to shop, accompanied by sound effects, sensations and odours...
When modern museum design is used in service of History, it offers the public a remarkable animated tour, which can be read on a number of levels: children can discover the past - which for them has largely disappeared - by having fun with the characters and automated displays and through the dialogue of the commentary, while their parents and grandparents can rediscover scenes from their childhood with nostalgia...
Everyone will leave enriched by this immersion in the heart of their roots.
